2017 Vecino Vineyard Rosé of Pinot Noir Image

2017 Vecino Vineyard Rosé of Pinot Noir

There is nothing we like better than crisp, pretty rosé in our glass. While the prevailing spirit of rosé is one of joyousness and frivolity, we take the task of creating it very seriously. It receives the same intense focus as our most expensive single vineyard Pinots, but the end result is all sunshine day dream. I guess you could say we take our fun seriously!

Our newest iteration comes from the same eco-friendly Pinot Noir vineyard from which our rosé has hailed in the past. For the first time however, we labeled it as a vineyard designate from the Vecino Vineyard. It is a wine of place that possesses unique characteristics, reflecting its specific terroir in the northern end of the Potter Valley.

This year we used a combination of the 115, Pommard and Roederer 32 clones from the Front Block. The fruit was exclusively picked to be rosé and gently whole cluster pressed. The wine was made primarily in stainless steel to preserve the freshness, but also included a selection fermented and aged in old French oak barrels. Our rosé is crafted to be floral, elegant and full of verve.

One of our favorite elements of this wine is the distinct aroma of fresh strawberries. Some have even gone further and described it specifically as Mara de Bois strawberries. This scent is combined with accents of spring herb garden and rainwater. The wine is pale in color and balances tastes of juicy fruit and a pleasantly bitter Campari-like component. Above all, it is a pretty, bright wine meant to charm.
