2018 Vonarburg Vineyard Riesling
Vonarburg Vineyard is located in the cool deep-end of Anderson Valley, just next to the sparkling wine producer Roederer Estate. Here we get to see what type of Riesling is possible when planted in the best sites in Anderson Valley and cared for with the utmost love and skill. We believe that this wine is on par with some of the finest dry Riesling made anywhere in world. It is distinctive of its place.
+ A rolling hillside vineyard with very thin topsoil and sheets of sandstone and shale beneath.
+ This cool climate site produces wines are highlighted predominantly by flavors of apple, pear and lemon with a pronounced minerality.
+ Farmed by Norman Kobler and his family on their family property. His parents where the original founder of Lazy Creek Winery in the early 70s.
+ Vonarburg is named after Norman's mother's maiden name. She was from Switzerland and the name means "From the the town of Ar."
+ The Vonarburg is fermented and aged exclusively in stainless steel at low temperatures. It does not go through malo-lactic fermentation.
