2018 Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir comes from high in the Santa Cruz Mountains from a vineyard parcel on Skyline Boulevard. We love this wine as a contrast to our Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley vineyard sites as the profile is completely different; perhaps a little more playful and exuberant—more ethereal than driven.
+ Sourced from a single vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains at 2,300 elevation on decomposed sandstone and limestone.
+ The 2018 vintage was exceptionally cool and the harvest for this wine was September 24.
+ The Pinot Noir here is made up of three different clones; Martini, 115 and Mt Eden.
+ Fermented in small open top stainless steel and punched down daily by hand with the inclusion of 10% whole cluster.
+ Aged for 15 months in mostly used French Oak barrels of which 10% were new.
+ The wine shows off a blend of very red and purple fruits, kind of like a classy fruit punch, combined with a minerally and citrusy finish.
