2018 H. Klopp Vineyard Chardonnay
This vineyard was planted for us in conjunction with Cobb and LaRue Wines in 2014 by Ted Klopp and his daughter Lauren. It yielded its first vintage in 2017 but really began to shine in 2018. We are thrilled with this vineyard site just outside of Sebastopol on Baker Lane. The vineyard is planted to four different clones and has at least as many variations of Goldridge soil compositions. We love what this vineyard has shown in its first few vintages—namely an incredible depth of flavor in a very focused and bright package.
+ 2018 vintage was a stellar one in the Sonoma Coast. The moderate last month before harvest allowed for long flavor development and bright natural acidity.
+ We used all four clones planted at H. Klopp in the final blend: Mt Eden, Clone 4, Robert Young and Old Wente.
+ This Chardonnay boasts cool orchard flavors of green apple and pear, swirled with notes of lemon zest and meringue. It has a fine and filigreed structure.
+ The wine was barrel fermented and aged in a mix of 25% new and 50% used French oak barrels with the remainder done in stainless steel.
