2017 Wendling Vineyard Pinot Noir
Farmed biodynamically, Wendling Vineyard is named for the Wendling family, one of the founding wine families of the Anderson Valley. It is the last vineyard in the Anderson Valley AVA and the closest in the valley to the Pacific Ocean. Showy Pinot aromas of crushed blackberries combined with coastal damp earth. Strutting with plummy silk yet built for aging. Will improve for 10-15 years and hold for 20 or more.
+ This all-star Pinot Noir vineyard was planned and planted with a multitude of Pinot Noir clones under the consultation of Ted Lemon (Littorai Wines) about eight years ago.
+ It is farmed with intense precision and care by Paul Ardzrooni. Paul manages some of the best vineyards in the Anderson Valley, of which Wendling is considered the marquee vineyard.
+ Wendling is situated directly across the road from the Kiser Vineyard (which you will see soon), but its fruit ripens earlier due to its south and southwestern-facing sun exposure.
+ This is a blend of four blocks on the north side of the vineyard. It is comprised of 667, 115, and Pommard clones as well as a block with mixed varieties including suitcase selections from Burgundy.
