2017 Tanbark Mill Vineyard Pinot Noir
This represents our third vintage of this “deep-end” Anderson Valley bottling. As we learn more about this particular vineyard, our winemaking has evolved to better capture it’s best qualities, mainly a rich and dark fruit flavor palette.
+ Tanbark Mill is situated just past Hendy Woods State Park and the tiny town of Philo. It slopes from the HWY 128 down to the edge of the Navarro River.
+ Near the river you will find small stones and sandy soils under a thin layer of loam. As one moves up from the river the soils become a deeper clay loam situated over a sandstone base.
+ This wine was fermented in small two-ton fermenters over the course of 24 days using mainly hand-finished punchdowns
+ Only the best barrels were selected for this vineyard designate bottling. We selected only five barrels of 12 available barrels as an A+ rating.
+ The wine has a pleasantly pungent aroma of dark macerated fruits and musky forest floor. In the mouth is a velvet-like swirl of wild blackberry, baked rhubarb and spice. This is backed up by mouthwatering acidity that asks for another sip.
