2017 Rice-Spivak Vineyard Pinot Noir
Rice-Spivak is from a six-acre vineyard south of the town of Sebastopol. We love it for its exotic aromatic profile and sensuous character. The vineyard always produces a head-turner for us. Exotic plum and dark cherry intermixed with Asian spice and mossy rock. Providing tons of joy now but will age well for a decade or more.
+ The soils in this vineyard are Goldridge sandy loam along with volcanic ash. Goldridge is very common for the area but the volcanic ash is quite unusual.
+ It also sits just outside the northern edge of the Petaluma Wind Gap which provides a daily refrigerating dose of cool air.
+ The vineyard produces small clusters with tiny berries of extremely intense flavor.
+ The wine was fermented in small open-top fermenters and was 100% de-stemmed.
