2017 Mirama Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Our 2017 Mirama Pinot Noir is a collection of our finest Sonoma Coast vineyard sites are blended together to capture the essence of coastal influenced, cool-climate Pinot. These vineyards all have variations on the Goldridge soil series, generally a fine textured and well-drained type that is derived from an ancient inland sea that emptied into the Pacific 5 million years ago. Cool oceanic influence in the Sonoma Coast allows for slow flavor development and tends to produce Pinot Noirs with fine structural elements and elegance. This wine aged for 20 months in mostly neutral French Oak barrels with only 20% being new. Sensual, silky, aromatically enthralling Pinot that mixes exotic spice notes with blueberry and fresh maitake mushroom notes. All of the vineyards included in this blend sit atop the typical Goldridge soil series of the area.
+ Mirama is a blend of Thorn Ridge, Rice-Spivak and English Hill Vineyards.
+ The 2017 vintage was warm with some record-breaking hot days. However a cool on-shore wind in late August and early September kept our Sonoma Coast vineyards relatively temperate.
